CITYDATA's privacy policy and consumer user consent opt-in

CITYDATA takes end user privacy very seriously. We are committed to only collecting privacy-compliant and non-personally identifiable data. CITYDATA's complete Privacy Statement is posted on our website.

Data Collected

Our mobile SDK does not collect the mobile user's name, email address, phone number, national identifier, date of birth, home address, or any other data attribute that would be considered "Personally Identifiable Information".

Mobile data collected by our mobile SDK may include the following:

  1. Location data of mobile devices, such as latitude and longitude coordinates obtained through GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, or other techniques.

  2. The associated hashed device identifier of the mobile device, such as the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) for iPhones and the Advertising ID for Android phones.

  3. Other information about mobile devices, such as: device type (e.g., tablet, smartphone), make, model, operation system, and sensor readings.

User Consent

The mobile SDK requires an opt-in with explicit notice and consent before collecting and sending back any mobile data from the end user's device. The mobile SDK requires app developers to display the standard or customized location permission opt-in message within their apps to obtain user consent for data collection. CITYDATA also recommends including a link to our Privacy Policy within the mobile app's Terms of User and/or End User License Agreement (EULA).

Mobile apps on Android phones may ask for permission to collect data in different ways. Older Android phones running older Android operating systems require an end user to accept any permissions that the app asks for before the end user can install the app. Thus, if the app has been downloaded and installed, the end user already is opted in. Newer Android phones allow end users to review permission after downloading the app, and opt-in prior to installing the app.
